To Take Apart

Suppose.

From the Latin sub, meaning “from below,” and ponere, meaning “to place.” Together, to place under.

“Supposed to”: To place or be placed under an expectation or assumption. Said expectation would take the infinitive form, e.g. to be, to make, to do.

“Suppose”: To place something/someone under an assumption.

Question: Is the weight I feel today caused exclusively by the bacon pizza I ate at 2am?

You Are Tired (I Think) by e.e. cummings

You are tired,

(I think)
Of the always puzzle of living and doing;
And so am I.
Come with me, then,
And we’ll leave it far and far away—
(Only you and I, understand!)
You have played,
(I think)
And broke the toys you were fondest of,
And are a little tired now;
Tired of things that break, and—
Just tired.
So am I.
But I come with a dream in my eyes tonight,
And knock with a rose at the hopeless gate of your heart—
Open to me!
For I will show you the places Nobody knows,
And, if you like,
The perfect places of Sleep.
Ah, come with me!
I’ll blow you that wonderful bubble, the moon,
That floats forever and a day;
I’ll sing you the jacinth song
Of the probable stars;
I will attempt the unstartled steppes of dream,
Until I find the Only Flower,
Which shall keep (I think) your little heart
While the moon comes out of the sea.

Lost & Found in Translation

Been burning out on the J Peterman stuff and decided to play around with film scripts. Only thing is, that’s a lot of space over a lot of pages to scribble out with pen. So I dug out a few old paints and beat-up brushes from the art center where I work and started messing around.

While my mother is a genius with a brush, I never suspected I’d fall to painting (like, ever). Then this happened. Quite a few mistakes (I am a fingerless wonder with a brush), but whatever, maybe I’ll keep it for now.

Following the (poorly focused) photo is the text of the poem itself. Let me know.

I’m Caving to The List Strategy (Shut Up): 14 Movies I Would Watch in the Next 14 Days, If I Had a TV

Because karate and triangle and “children you destroy together.”

4. Crazy, Stupid Love

Rain + heels + YOU + holding hands

5. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

6. Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang

Nothing sexier than grammar lessons at the bar.

7. Lost In Translation

Elevator cheek kisses. #isthatit #seriously

I’d kill to be that lighter, though.

Find that person who forces you to eat the cookies (s)he baked you after (s)he makes sure you have an awful day. That sentence is a mess but I don’t really care.

14. Up in the Air

I’m with Vera Farmiga: “Not an asshole would be nice.”

You Is

Aside

Who knows, really, what it means to pepper your seclusion with company, and if you’re truer with or without it. And if you don’t like yourself alone, and if that’s what’s true, is the company you seek out a necessary falsehood tailored for your fight with the stubborn beat, the beat to which the guts inside you drive? If yes, then your friends are weapons with which you battle you. Use them to conquer yourself in halting increments, one drink, one text at a time.

When it’s done, maybe it will be like those nights when you wake up and the room is too dark and for two seconds you forget who you are, and you’d be sure you’re dead except you don’t remember who you is.
